Foster Care - @crose18

“Did you know there are approximately 13,000 children in Michigan alone currently in foster care? 3,500 of them waiting to be adopted? Every race. Every age. Every gender. Some are only children, some are siblings. Some will become adults without ever leaving “the system”. There are more children at risk of or currently being abused and/or neglected, and they haven’t been identified yet. I am a foster mom. People say I’m strong. I’m selfless. They could never do what I do. Those same people have a safe place to sleep every. single. night. They have food, clothing, shelter. They won’t be hit, touched inappropriately, exposed to drugs, or alcohol, or violence. They are safe. I might get to love my son for 1 week, for 6 months, or forever. But every moment he, and any other children we love in the future, deserve a home, for however long, that shows them what it means to be safe, to be loved, to be home, to matter. Foster care isn’t about me. It’s about them. I wear this necklace to bring awareness to foster care and to encourage everyone to consider foster care and/or adoption through foster care. Even if for one child, you can make a difference.” @crose18
