“Hey, I’m Hannah. I am wearing teal to spread awareness for people struggling with OCD. I’ve been living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder since I was 13. My obsessions mostly revolve around my physical health, religion, and fears of contamination. My functionality since developing this disorder has ranged from being fully functional to completely home bound. I have been in and out of treatment for several years. My recovery has not been linear and I still struggle daily. The debilitating impact that OCD has had on my life is exacerbated by the stigma that surrounds it. There is a widespread misunderstanding of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that I live to shatter. I feel empowered to share my story with the intention of changing the dialogue, so that the mainstream recognizes the gravity of this disorder to enable those who are afflicted to receive the help and support they deserve.” @hannahzid
