“My name is Maria and I'm from Finland. I got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2013 when I was 27 years old. In Finland there is about 9000 people who suffers from the disease. It is not quite clear what causes MS and it cannot be cured. Treatments only attempt to slow it down and prevent new attacks. MS affects the nervous system and can cause various physical and mental symptoms. It is often called as an invisible disease since most of the symptoms may not show outside. MS can cause cognitive problems, numbness, vision problems, pain, fatigue, muscle weakness, depression and a lot more. Most of my symptoms doesn't show and for someone who doesn't know me I probably seem like a normal healthy person. For that reason i started my blog called Maria's Superpower to rase awareness and to not be invisible anymore. I also wanted to show people that you can live a full life even with a chronic disease.” @mariassuperpower
